I Have An Expensive Taste For Clothes...Without The Money to Buy Them

Dear Gabby-

I don’t have much to spend on clothing, but I do LOVE to dress up for every occasion. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to support my dressing up habit much longer.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop for the best threads and best deals?

Sincerely,

Fashionably Frugal

Dear Fashionably Frugal,

We will soon be fast friends!  I, too, am a very price conscious shopper and need to have those go-to stores that give me plenty of options without breaking the bank!  When I first started my career in fashion I was an intern (unpaid) at Glamour Magazine.  Sky was the limit in regards to how you expressed yourself with your wardrobe, however, the sky was't the limit when it came to my budget!  So I learned quickly how to shop smarter and was still able to impress the magazine fashionistas.  Old habits die hard as I still bargain shop at the below places you will soon learn about.

My ultimate go to stores for fashionable bargains?  TJ Maxx or Marshalls.  These stores are my jam.  My ultimate stomping grounds for finding outfits for work, the weekend, date night, or even a wedding!  Now, the key here is to keep an open mind.  You never know what you'll find at either of these stores, but rest assured their selection is always on trend and wallet friendly. Oh!  One last tip - ALWAYS check out the clearance rack!  I usually start there first to see if I can find what I need.  I have scored some amazing designer pieces for a bargain.  For example, I have hanging in my closet three pairs of Valentino trousers that I paid..drumroll.. $39 each!

Another store I find myself in a lot scoring amazing stylish deals is..get ready for it.. TARGET!!  Currently, I'm obsessed with the Who What Wear collection they have in their stores!  It's priced right, on point with current trends, and the quality is great!  I actually picked up two blouses from that collection recently to pack with me for a couple dinners on an upcoming business trip.

Lastly, another great place to shop for chic bargains is www.thredup.com.  It's an online consignment store where you can style yourself from head-to-toe with new or like new fashionable items.  They have everything from clothing, to shoes, to even handbags!  I find myself "window" shopping on their site a lot during my lunch hour.  Another great feature about this site is that you can send them items in your closet you no longer wish to keep in return for cash or a store credit!  A great way to recycle your items in exchange for something fresh and new.

Happy shopping!!
